For those of you who have sent the machine in for the bezel issue, is it well fixed?

I have an X60T. I have the bezel issue. Build: July '07 C2D1.5

The more I use the computer, the better it gets... meaning the less noticeable it appears. I do about 50/50 tab /type. I was outraged when I first found it, now the less I care the less its noticeable.

This is possibly resolved, a thread over at tabletpcreviews shows that lenovo is posting a fix, and that they are now shipping the SXGA+ again.

Hello everyone,
I am happy to report that we do have a solution for the bezel separation. The most detail I have on the fix right now is that it is actually a revised bezel part. It will take several weeks for the parts to become available through our various service organizations. I would recommend waiting to request service until the parts are in ready supply to reduce the time your notebook is out for service. When the new bezels are available, we will do a formal announcement with more details. We appreciate the patience of those experiencing this issue and the help and support of those customers who aided in gathering facts, including those who provided their systems for analysis.

Andrew - the horizontal lines issue can be fixed currently by engaging service.

Let's hope for the best."

Cut-and-pasted for your convenience. Hopefully there will be a Thanksgiving sale and the X61t will be fully fixed by then.

Fix announced on Lenovo blog

What does everyone think about this?

"We have released a fix in the form of a revised bezel, with thicker adhesive tape designed to compensate for the somewhat thinner SXGA+ display. These parts are now in stock, and are being applied through normal service routes. Additional information including service part numbers may be found here http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... MIGR-68984."

I think that is a big PLUS POINT for Lenovo. It shows that they have listened to their customers and come up with a solution. OK it wasn't solved overnight, but I can understand that finding the proper cause and cure isn't necessarilly easy.

It's about 6 months since Lenovo announced the "fix" for the bezel separation problem.

I would be interested to hear from anyone who has had this problem fixed, but has experienced that the antenna cover on the right side of the screen seems to be loose. By loose I mean as if there is no support behind it to the front side of the screen.

My reason for asking is that I have a customer whose tablet was repaired in January and is now complaining that the right antenna cover isn't a clean fit to the front bezel, as if there is no support behind it or it's not properly attached.

If I can get a picture of what I mean; I will post it.

Thanks in advance

My x60 tablet had this and was fixed with what look slike an extra rivet to hold the screen together on the bottom middle of the bezel. Works fine, but I have another issue which is driving me up the wall involving flickering of the video.

My tablet arrived and I have to pick it up from brothers house. How do I check to see if this might have the BEZEL issue?

quick question: I'm looking at buying a used X61T. The guy stated that it had the bezel separation issue, and that he had it fixed by Lenovo under warranty, but the problem still remains although much less severe. It will be out of warranty in about 2 weeks. It's a pretty good deal, do you think I should pick it up? Are there more permanent fixes for this problem that I could perform after purchasing it?

thanks for the quick response!

If it's that much of a good deal, buy the machine and extend the warranty immediately, not because of the bezel, but because you don't want to be without it...

My $0.02...

I just got my x61t bezel repaired. I mailed it out monday and got it back friday morning. Everything looks fine; the bezel is now just as tight to the LCD all the way around. Nothing is loose. They even gave me a new keyboard :)

not covered under warranty, says CR rep

Well, I have an X61T and have had the bezel problem for almost a year. I have it taped but decided it's time to get it fixed. I have the 3-year depot/pick-up warranty. I called today and the CR rep said, "You don't have the Thinkpad plus protection (or something like that) plan so it will be $350 to fix the bezel."

I told her this was a well-known problem that should be covered under warranty. She said I could talk to a supervisor and she put me on hold to talk to one but I had to get off the phone before I got the supervisor on the line.

So what gives? Anyone have any idea why a CR rep would tell me this?

I'm p.o.ed. I already spent 45 min on the phone and AM NOT HAPPY about this at all.

Any ideas?

Seriously!

How do I check if my X61t is susceptible to this issue?

Can you please take some pictures or describe your experience of the Bezel issue so that I may check.

If yours is affected, where the bezel contacts the screen on the bottom will be separated from the LCD (more so than the other edges). If you put your laptop in 'tablet mode' then the bezel should come off even more. Mine was separated by a millimeter or two before I got it fixed.

So many people talking about it and mentioning it and I have yet to see a picture of this issue online. Anyone got any?

I have the 1024x768 screen and while I don't have the bezel problem on the bottom, the bezel hs detached from the antenna. Currently, it's not causing any problems.

Can someone confirm that this issue has been fixed in the new X61t that are being manufactured?
