Hi,

I'm looking forward to buy small notebook - 12". After small research i've choosen ThinkPad x60s and Dell D430. One of my concerns is lack of DVI output in x60s and it's docking station, which is avail in D430. Since i'm going to work a lot on notebook+ext. keyboard+mouse+LCD (Dell 2407WFP) i'm not sure if video quality will be good on VGA output. I've been trying to google out that topic but most information are only limited to digital/analog difference - without explanation how it affects output quality.

So my question is: What you think about connecting x60s to LCD (Dell 2407WFP) over VGA ? Will video quality be good (no smoothing, no flickering etc) ?

Every LCD i've been working on, has been connected over DVI so i don't have any opition about long term work on monitor with VGA input.

Thanks in advance for your comments and speding some time for answer.

Regards
Pawel

You should first make sure that the Dell D430 really supports the DVI-output of the accompanied dockingstation. AFAI remember this was not the case for previous D4xx models via the dock. Here is a review of the previous D420 model:

Related to the Thinkpad X60s, it's VGA port signal for driving huge external monitors isn't very good. See also via some translation software this german X60s review...
