Thinkpad X60 Tablet and Bluetooth

#1 Post by lpmtnmvr » Tue Aug 21, 2007 10:48 pm

I ordered my Thinkpad w/Bluetooth and until this week, did not have a reason to use it - the icons were available, but I did not have a chance to check it out.

Now, I am trying to use my NEW Targus Bluetooth mini-mouse. The mouse has been charged etc. I turned it on and the BT does not sense it.

Long story short - I went to the Lenovo website to see if there was a driver or womething I would need...I ofund a June 15th Bluetooth support file for Bluetooth with enhanced Data Rate for Windows XP.

Following the text file, I uninstalled the Bluetooth; restaarted the PC; verified I have Windows XP Service Pack 2 installed.

I am trying to download the Bluetooth file on that same support file but I am not able to.

Fortunately, I created a system restore point before exploring this.

Any ideas on what to try next? I read several posts in SEARCH, it seems others have had problems around the time this support file was created, so I thought this was going to help me out.

I look forward to your support.

I tried to go back to the set point I created - It does not work. It tells me to select another set point.

If I go back further - will I lose any data stored?

System restore from safe mode RE: Bluetooth troubleshooting

#4 Post by lpmtnmvr » Wed Aug 22, 2007 7:56 am

Gomjabbar and other sages who may be available --
Since I have already screwed things up - is someone willing to refresh my memory for how to get to safe mode.

I hesitate to make things worse than I already have and I can't remember how to do it on my desktop, much less my Thinkpad with security, etc.

Thanks!

Press F8 just as the system starts to boot the OS.

You have to be pretty quick, usually I just keep on mashing F8 the microsecond the BIOS splash screen disappears :P

Bluetooth dielmma continues

#7 Post by lpmtnmvr » Thu Aug 23, 2007 8:29 pm

OK - apparently I have become so dependent upon my fingerprint reader, I forgot my password. and  !!!!

I am the sole user (HA - fortunately not screwing anyone else up)

I am THE administrator, also. The help stuff says the administrator can reset the password, but it aqppears you need to know your password to do this. I am in a Catch 22. I copied my most important files to a thumb drive, in anticipation of losing something in the transition here....

Help? PLEASE -- and be gentle I am feeling VERY foolish and a bit fragile right now.

For what it is worth, I did get the BT reinstalled. I still can't get the Tablet to recognize the mouse.

Thanks in advance!

I would really love anyone's guidance with the bluetooth mouse install.

I guess the password thing is between me and Lenovo, to take it in and have an administrator reset it?

If anyone can get back to me on this I'd value hearing from you! 8)
Classes start REAL soon.

Cheers!
