X61 Tablet and external screen output

With a X61 Tablet, is there a way to have the external screen orientation different from the tablet screen? When you put the screen in portrait mode, the external screen moves also. This is okay when you are looking at the tablet, but for the people looking at the external monitor or projector, they have to turn their heads.

I tried this a minute ago and wasn't successful - using an ultrabase. Will try at home using just ext. monitor. Maybe if you also "pivot" the external screen that would be ok
