Added 2 GB SanDisk Extreme III as ready-boost - speed up!

#1 Post by jamess » Wed Aug 22, 2007 11:35 am

I bought and added a 2 GB SanDisk EXtreme III and set it up as a ready boost device, 1830 MB as Vista recommended. I shut down the system, firing it up again and the difference is noticable, say about 15-20%. Once I set everything up, I will time it accordingly.

I recently bought a 2GB Sandisk Ultra II for the same purpose, but ended up splurging on 4GB of RAM anyhow.

Now I wonder if the card is simply redundant now, or if it still helps a bit.

I too was thinking of adding 2 dimms of 2GB ram, but decided to go for cheaper SD card. Ram here is only by IBM and with a price of 150 EUR per 2 GB dimm it's rather expensive. I opted for a new HDD instead and just ordered the 7K200 by Hitachi for 207 EUR. 2 week delivery time though :(
