Does anyone know what the max speed the x61s SATA i/face supports? SATA 150 or SATA 300?

SATA 150.

thank you sugo... I thought that was probably the case... where did you get that info from?

... but since no SATA drives approach the 1.5 Mb/s throughput yet, the interface speed is, and likely will remain for the next few years, pretty much irrelevant.

that's interesting... if that's the case, why does hitachi offer the 7K200 series drives including the 200gb 2-1/2" SATA drive in both SATA 1.5Gb/s and 3Gb/s versions??? they list the throughput as "up to 876 MB/s". so why would they offer a 3Gb/s interface??

HTS722020K9A300 = SATA 3Gb/s Interface
HTS722020K9SA00 = SATA 1.5Gb/s Interface

Is there a difference in the connector? Can a SATA 3Gb/s driver be plugged into a SATA 1.5Gb/s interface? Looking at the spec sheet, I can't see any difference in the electrical specs between the two parts...

There are some SATA controllers that are only compatible with a single interface speed; hence drive manufacturers may offer both speeds.
