Hi, I haven't seen any real thread collecting battery life information of the x61 & x61s (x61t) models yet. And there really hasn't been much information about it on the internet either. But by now, I hope enough people have received their laptop from Lenovo, so this thread would have a point!
On a personal note, I am about to buy a x61 since where I am located Lenovo doesn't offer the x61s. But battery life would be important to me, so the more numbers I can get from users out there, particulary regarding the regular x61 with the 8 cell battery, the better. Hearing good numbers from you would make my purchase feel more comfortable.
Please post here the battery life you get with your x61/s/t model, what battery you are using, and what tasks you are doing. Thanks!

Using my X61 w/ a T7300 and the 8-cell battery while blogging - so essentially a lot of 'interneting' - I get about 3.5 - 4 hrs. This is on the Energy Saver plan with the screen brightness at about halfway.
I do, however, have a PCMCIA sound card, which probably draws extra energy even when not in use.

i don't know mine exactly. it seems plenty good to me. i have an x61 tablet w/ an 8 cell battery. i use it for my 4 straight classes (4 hours) and I usually still have an hour or two left when I'm done. I usually turn off my wireless when the lecturer starts (and back on for the 10 min. breaks between lectures every hour) and I often turn my brightness down pretty low too (sometimes they dim the lights and so I actually prefer to have the brightness almost all the way down).

Wow, that is not much. Have you monitored your cpu speed or overall power consumption in watts? There are many things that affects battery life, but your numbers feel a bit low for an 8 cell battery.

How do you monitor watt usage? Just in the ThinkPad power manager?

I have an x61t
Just reading and taking notes @ lowest brightness w/ wireless off gives me between 6 and 6.5 hrs
I think if I do nothing but reading, and turn off the screen when taking a break for a sec (set a shortcut to one of the buttons), and putting it on sleep when I'm taking a coffee break or something, I might be able to squeeze close to 7 hours
This is with sidebar off and aero on, but no transparency and no animations

I have an 8-cell X61s with the Ultra-lite screen. I get about 9 hours on the "battery saver" option.

That is absolutely horrible.
If I'm scrolling online and sending AIM messages this thing (x61t - 8cell) will last me over 5 hours, near 6 if I turn the brightness down.
