no-1802 works on X61s???

I wish to upgrade my wireless Intel ABG to ABGN. I bought an Intel ABGN card for 35$, but the X61s refuses to even boot with the remark that an "unauthorized miniPci card" must be first removed (error 1802)!

after some googling I found that the no-1802.com routine can disallow this error. However, all references to no-1802 are quite dated. Therefore, I wish to inquire whether anybody has had the no-1802 working on a X61s.

many thanks!

Unfortunately the no-1802 trick doesn't work on recent ThinkPads, including the X60/61 series. (In some cases with these new machines, depending on which "1802 trick" you try, it can cause problems with the CMOS that render the machine unbootable)

There is a summary on www.thinkwiki.org that details exactly what the patch does, and user's experiences with it.

Fortunately there are many laptops that don't have these types of miniPCI card locks (I think IBM/Lenovo and HP/Compaq are the only ones that do it), so there is still a wide market for you to sell the ABGN card on to somebody else.

here is a update to whoever interested. I was reading a long post in the T6X forum post by Zenders. (I havent modified my bios yet) What I did is follow another member on blocking pin 20. I end up not blocking it and just sliding the card into the second slot to the right of the X61 and it booted and sucessfully installed my driver for my 4965AGN card (DELL BRANDED). But no wifi detected....
