1 Gb of RAM too little?

I am planning to upgrade my X30 to X61. My X30 seems to be running on 256MB of RAM, which is less than ideal. 1 Gig of RAM looks like A LOT to me, but is this really enough for this machine? I will be using Word, browsing net, watching videos, doing multitasking, but no CAD or Photoshop. Thanks a lot!

Two gig is best, especially if your new machine wll be running Windows Vista, which needs more power than XP. Even on XP 2 gig of ram will spoil you.
With today's lower prices why not get some more RAM for the little X30 too? It will thank you!

Ram is cheap at the moment when self installed.
I'd say go with one 1GB stick.
And buy 1 stick later. And if for some reason they don't play well with each other you buy a 2nd 1gb stick of the brand you just bought.
It'll run about $40USD at the moment for 1GB of ram.

I got the my X61s with 1GB, and upgraded afterwards. I had used it a few days with only 1GB running Vista Business and it worked, but it did a lot of hard drive thrashing, and was slow with certain tasks. Immediately after I added the 1GB, everything sped up.
Just make sure that when you order from Lenovo that you choose the 1GB on 1 DIMM option, since there are only two slots inside.

My personal experience has been that even with 2GB, the hard drive churns a lot. Given the price of the upgrade spread out over a couple of years, I would say just go with 2GB and be done with it.
