I just saw an X80 - was I delusional?
I just saw an X80 - was I delusional?
I just got back from Tokyo where I was pretty sure I saw someone using an X80 in a fast food joint. He was obviously using a small Thinkpad so leaned in to take a look at what model it was and voila - an X80 according to the badge. I remember thinking to myself, "This guy is either rich or his company willingly springs for the latest tech toys". However, now that I am back in the States, I have not been able to find any information on a X80 and it doesn't seem to actually exist. Was I delusional from the Tokyo heat?

Perhaps, but I was pretty sure that X80 was on the badge since I recall being surprised that someone would spring for the latest Thinkpad at early adopter prices. An X60 would not have startled me so. Isn't the X-Series still developed in Japan? Maybe it was a test unit in the field.

Nah, that guy altered the badge from X60 to X80, probably to impress the ladies.

When in doubt ask
1. The guy feels great & happy about his laptop - EGO, PRIDE etc.
2. You find out the truth and dont die of curiosity or wonderinf if you're going delusional.

OMG!
Do they skip x70, like they did with x50?
BTW, since 8 is good number in China, they will manufacture special edition x88

I think that before your delusional status migrates to frustration or maybe something worse, you should go back for another look. This would hopefully resolve the situation you find yourself in.
Oh yeh, one other thing - don't forget to take a camera with you.
