drivers needed for x61s downgrade to XP

#1 Post by rcc36x » Wed Sep 05, 2007 3:10 am

Hi,

I'm trying to downgrade to XP from Vista and I'm having trouble finding the right drivers to get everything to work for my x61s (7668-CTO). Can anyone who has done this point in to the right direction?

I've been to the website below but it seems some of the drivers aren't for the components in my machine (eg. the audio driver doesn't work)

Thanks

Sir, please install Thinkvantage System Update, it would gather available drivers, applications and critical patches for your machine.

I tried using the ThinkVantage System Update but it doesn't find updates for any hardware drivers. It has some updates for Thinkpad utilities. I installed all of them, but I still can't use the Fn+F buttons.

I agree that System Updata isn't always thorough. In this case, you need to install the drivers and software manually. Go to lenovo.com and click on "Downloads & drivers".
Microsoft Surface 3 (Atom x7-Z8700 / 4GB / 128GB / LTE)
Dell OptiPlex 9010 SFF (Core i3-3220 / 8GB / 8TB); HP 8300 Elite minitower (Core i7-3770 / 16GB / 9.25TB)
Acer T272HUL; Crossover 404K; Dell 3008WFP, U2715H, U2711, P2416D; Monoprice 10734; QNIX QHD2410R; Seiki Pro SM40UNP

Yes Thinkvantage is useless, it did not help at all...

I am currently strugling with the downgrade as well, so for the particular issue with audio you have, install the HDA driver first.

Actually I had the same issue but thanks the site you posted, it is resolved now. Look at the detail installation steps.

This is the driver location

This driver resolves the issue with Modem as well.

I am currently trying to get the bluetooth working, hopefully the last things that needs to get fixed.

Thanks
Jan

My X61 is finally downgraded to XP without any use of recovery disk, on fully reformated HDD.

All the drivers on the page posted above are sufficient.

The last piece that is not working at all, is the "Fn F5" functionality, practically I am not able to turn on the Bluetooth. Wifi works fine.

Did anyone get further with this?

Thanks
Jan

Sir, you need Hotkey drivers.

I do have the hotkey driver installed, and can confirm, that all the other Fn combinations are working.

Besides the darn "Fn F5" combination.

Thanks

For Fn + F5 to work, you need to have installed: the Lenovo ACPI Power Management driver, the Hotkey utility driver, and Lenovo's driver package for your wireless adapter(s). I believe you should install the drivers in that order. Also see the following.

Intel wireless adapters have limited connection methods and cannot be controlled via Fn + F5 - ThinkPad
