Slooow wakeup on X60 tablet

I have pretty much managed to tune Vista and the Lenovo software to my satisfaction, except for waking from sleep.
The system wakes from sleep quickly, but often there are some background tasks that lock up the machine for several minutes. It's extremely annoying, especially since everyone I know has a laptop that wakes and is ready in under 20 seconds.
Here are the symptoms I see:
* About 60% of the time when waking from sleep, I log into the system and have to wait while the screen resolution changes to 800x600 and then back to my normal 1400X1050. I have no idea why this would happen.
* About 80% of the time when waking from sleep, the system will be unresponsive for a minute or more while the hard drive thrashes. When this happens, the time from wake to having a working desktop is at least as long as waking from hibernate.
* About 10% of the time, neither of the above things happens and I can use the computer immediately after it wakes.
Based on posts to this forum, I have:
* Removed Norton AV. I couldn't manage to turn off the "slow system to a crawl" feature of Norton, so I removed it and was relieved to find that my new laptop is not actually slower than my old one. But I still have the above problems.
* Removed the Client Security Solution - this reduced both the boot time and the time to wake from sleep, but not dramatically.
* Turned off the Access Connections feature that tries to connect to various profiles after the network has been disconnected. This improved things enormously but I still have the above problems.
* Added a 2GB SD card for ReadyBoost. This improved performance more than I thought it would but again, the system should wake up and be ready in well under a minute every time.
* Removed the Lenovo screen zoom software (the one that was activated by Fn-Space). This corrected a problem where the screen would zoom to 640x480 and back at random times, but didn't correct the problem of changing resolution when waking from sleep.
I'm now using Procmon to find activity in the minutes after the machine wakes, but I'm hoping that someone on the forum has had these problem and can help.
Thanks!
Hans
