X61t trackpoint fails after using tablet mode

#1 Post by Aristotle11 » Thu Sep 06, 2007 11:28 am

Hi Folks!

My X6t is having a problem switching from tablet to laptop mode. The trackpoint works when I boot, but if I turn the screen around and use tablet mode, and then switch the screen around back to laptop mode, the trackpoint is disabled. I've been working on this issue for a few days now with no luck. I'm using vista ultimate and my drivers are up to date.

Any ideas?

Thanks!
Aris

Hi. I've rebooted my computer about a dozen times over the last 24 hours, since the trackpoint mouse (red thingy) is unusable after I use tablet mode. I imagine that switching between laptop and tablet mode should not require a reboot. Any suggestions on how to resolve the problem would be great! -Aris

A Quick update: if I go from tablet to laptop mode (and get no trackpoint function) I can put it to sleep, and waking it up returns the trackpoint functionality. Strange.

Sounds like a Windows Vista issue. Is it on lenovo oem preload or a retail version of Vista?

It's an OEM preload, with all drivers updated. It is some sort of a driver issue with Vista I imagine, but I don't know what it might be. I just reinstalled the trackpoint driver, but it didn't make any difference. So I'm now in the habit of sleeping the computer every time I switch from tablet to laptop mode, which turns this fast core-2-duo X61 computer into a much slower computer in practice than my old reliable X31. Oh the irony! -Aris
