Making Journal Templates

Hi All,
I'm trying to make some custom templates (A quote form, invoice, etc.) for my business using the tablet/pen feature of the X61, but the available features are pretty slim.

For example one of the stock templates has a date field that automatically updates, but when I try to make a template I can't find a way to insert such a field.

Is there a way to make templates like I want to?
