New User Account with Vista Issues

#1 Post by Watashi » Wed Sep 12, 2007 4:05 pm

Hi,
I'm new to this forum and recently purchased a X61 Tablet which runs Vista Business. I tried making new user accounts, but the strange thing is that even though I'm able to create Guest, Standard, and Admin accounts, I'm only able to log into accounts that are Admin based. That is, when I try logging into the Guest account, I will see Logging off and it will return back to the login screen. This also happens with a standard account. Also, when I do log into another admin account, it runs very slowly and I notice that the 2G of RAM is maxed out. Vista seems to be such a memory hog and a single user will use 1G of RAM, making the Switch user function impossible to use. I'm just wondering if anyone has seen these issues and if there is a way to enable the Guest and Standard accounts. Thanks.

Given your description, it sounds like Vista is attempting to log you in as Guest, but runs into a "file permission" problem and is forced to logout. Vista's file permissions and related security mechanisms are quite a bit more "stringent" than they were under XP. I suspect you will get further with Google, unless there happens to be some Vista gurus hanging out here.
