Can an X61s successfully dock in an X6 Tablet UltraBase?

#1 Post by Da_Nose » Tue Sep 18, 2007 4:12 pm

I recently got an X61T w/ X6 Tablet UltraBase and am fairly happy with it.

My wife needs a new laptop and I thought about getting her an X61s. Before I buy the X61s - I want to verify that it can successfully share some of the accessories I have for the X61T:

+ Can the X61s use the X6 Tablet UltraBase & successfully dock?

I think the answer to these questions is YES - but wanted to confirm:
+ Can the X61s use the 8-cell batteries I have for my X61 Tablet?
+ Can the X61T use a 4-cell battery that comes with the X61s?

I couldn't find an answer to the ultrabase question - though a couple threads loosely touch on it.

Thanks, Da_Nose

I think it is quite unlikely given that the dimensions of the two machines differ by almost an inch front to back.

Also, my 8-cell battery has an indentation for the hinge to rotate, so it may move to the X61s, but I have to wonder if the reverse is true, unless all 8-cell batteries have this indentation.

1. Big No.

2/3. I am not certain about the rest, the architecture of X61 tablet is quite different than the non tablet counterparts of X61 series. FWIW the extended 4 cell battery of X61 tablet is not swappable among the others. I can check this thing out for you tomorrow but in the meantime hopefully someone would verify it. Giving a call to lenovo is another option for you to confirm things out.

thanks for the inputs ryengineer and timendres.

I get that the docks are a no-go, and am led to believe the same for batteries.
