Can you count on R&R to produce an identical Restore ?

Is it as good as TrueImage ?
I have an OS different than the pre-installed one (Vista Business) and I have Vista Ultimate. I was wondering if the Backup feature of the R&R would create an identical image of my system and if a restore would bring my Vista Ultimate (NOT Business which was originally pre-installed) system to a 100% identical copy.

Also I wonder how could that be possible, being that the Backup feature of the R&R is done through Windows and not through an exclusive Dos like environment like TrueImage works.

Did you ever get an answer on this? What did you end up doing?

if you create a set of restore cd's from the windows thinkvantage RR, it will create cd's that you can use to restore your computer to the state it was in when you backed up.

Yes it will work. Backup and Factory restore are two different features and there are two layers of ThinkVantage Rescue and Recovery:

1. In Windows
2. Predesktop Console.

The one in Windows lets create Product Recovery disks (oem preload only) and a backup image of your entire Operating System and settings either on your HDD, Network, USB HDD or second HDD etc etc.

The one in Predesktop area lets you restore your entire HDD to out of the box factory settings. Also, this option (Hidden Service partition) is only accessible from oem factory preload and it used to be look like DOS like environment back in the days.
