re-installing system - X60s 1704-5UG

#1 Post by toomak » Sat Sep 22, 2007 5:05 am

Hi all,

I had to install a new HD after a major HD failure. Since I had no ThinkPad files pre-installed, I had to download everything I thought I needed from the Lenovo website. I have a few issues left to solve:

1. There is no OSD when using the hardware volume control.
2. In spite of installing HD protection system a few times, it doesn't load automatically unless I manually create a shortcut in the startup folder.
3. ThinkVantage button doesn't respond.
4. When undocking, display switches to 800X600 instead of 1024X768. In the docking station I use 1280X1024.

Any help would be highly appreciated. Many thanks!

Get the 'system update' utility and see what it wants to download for you. This should solve most if not all of your driver problems.

For XP you need the ACPI Power Management driver and the Hotkey Utility driver. It is probably a good idea to install Presentation Director to manage display resolutions. For Vista you also need the Lenovo System Interface Driver. You may also have to create a docked and an undocked hardware profile.

HOW TO: Set Up Hardware Profiles for Laptop Computers in Windows XP

When doesn't your ThinkVantage button not respond?

Hi,
I'm still having problems with screen resolutions when docking and undocking.
Also no OSD when changing volume.
The TV is not responding while in XP (meaning, no TV menu).
Thanks
