x61s LCD brightness settings not sticking / weirdness

#1 Post by roblim » Sat Sep 22, 2007 4:42 pm

The LCD brightness settings on my x61s w/ ultralight (Windows XP) are erratic. If I reduce the brightness then it does not remember the settings the next time I power on. On my x22, I could leave the brightness at 50%, shut down and restart and the display would be at 50%. Now, I always have to reduce brightness anytime I restart.

Plugging in AC power and detaching AC power can also produce weird results-sometimes the display goes brighter and sometimes dimmer. Not consistent. I'd expect that on battery the display should always go to a lower brightness, but sometimes it gets brighter. Driver weirdness?

Anyone else seeing strange brightness control problems on the x61s?

If you reduce the brightness using Fn + End on the keyboard, then it will not remember those settings. What it should remember is the Power Scheme you select in Power Manager. You can create a Power Scheme and set brightness levels in Power Manager for both battery and AC use.
