X61t Wifi and DHCP

I disabled DHCP on my X61t to assign a static IP to the wifi connection.

It works fine until the computer reboots, then DHCP is turned back on.

Any suggestions to keep DHCP turned off?

Thanks!

Are you using Access Connections?

That was it. I had to unclick an override box in Access Connections. Thanks.

Why does Access Connections exist? Does it just duplicate what Windows does or somehow extend the feature set?

I think AC has a few features some people need and a few that are convenient. I believe AC can allow you to connect to some advanced, secured networks that Windows alone is not capable of connecting to. On the convenience front, AC can manage wired and wireless network connections for a single network, it can connect to preferred APs, and it can manage wireless card power setting for specific networks.

However, despite all those benefits it had problems connecting to the networks I use so I removed it. Windows does well enough for my purposes.
