x60 0191 error

Maybe it's coincidence, but after installing my machine yesterday with the latest and greatest R&R and CSS updates, the machine failed to boot with 0191 error.

In checking on the forum, I've read it could be a bad CMOS bsttery or motherboard.

Inasmuch as I've never used passwords (BIOS, HDD or Windows) on this machine, I doubt that's the problem.

Nonetheless, I decided the easiest thing to do first was to remove the CMOS battery and check the voltage. One post indicated it was supposed to be 3.6 volts, so I was delighted at the prospect maybe all I needed was a replacement 'cause mine measure in at 3.14 volts.

The battery was out for about 30 minutes. After reinstalling it, I now get more error messages. (0271, for the date and time needing to be set, which I would certainly expect; the good ol' 0191; and finally 0176, which scolds me for having "tampered" with the system. Yes, I tampered.....

Am I hosed? Is a new planar board the likely solution?? The machine is 3 months out of warranty.

I'm at the limit of what I can do manually (but certainly open to suggestions), but inasmuch as I'd like to get this fixed pronto, I'm struggling on where I can take it (I'm in Colorado, near Denver, but do you think I can find an authorizied service center from the Lenovo site or Google search?? Uh, no, I can't.

Anyone have a URL that shows where carry-in service might be available in my area??
