Wireless on x61t

Lately, I've been getting more and more frustrated as I use my wireless adapter for internet in various Wi-fi spots all over the area. Places that I frequented and still do that I never had an issue getting a connection from (Panera Bread, Brewed Awakenings, etc.) suddenly give me problems. The main issue at hand is that I initially get connected, and periodically, during my time there, I lose that connection, sometimes as many as 3-4 times/hour or more. It's very frustrating since this has never been an issue for me at all in the past until I received this machine.
I run Windows XP for my tablet and my type is 7764. I use the Intel Wireless Wifi Link 4965AGN. Any thoughts as to what this might be a result of?
Ironically enough, when I am at HOME, using my router at home, I never get knocked off ever. Using multiple connections outside the home at various places has seemed to give me the issues, but this never happened on my old R series Lenovo that I used 2 weeks ago for a year or more. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thank you.

When I got rid of access connections that problem went away.

Absolutely the same experience. I wish AC worked for me, but it didn't (it does have some useful features). It worked fine at home, but outside of home (places with heavy traffic) it had trouble. I'm not sure why; I just know that it couldn't handle my non-home locations.

You unistall it via Add/Remove programs option in the Control panel.

Thanks. I found it. It wasn't a separate program, but buried in one of the ThinkPad items.

I've got a similar problem with a brand new x61 w/XP pro.
I uninstalled access connections, but now the XP wireless network connection hangs: Starts out fine, then I lose the connection after a couple minutes , the program freezes and I get an empty screen. Need to do a manual shutdown, but on startup there's no notification of an irregular shut-down having taken place.
Otherwise, internet connection is fine: I've turned the wireless hardware off, and am now using ethernet w/o a hitch.
Any thoughts?
Worst case, I can restore factory settings because i've got nothing new on the hard drive, but would love to avoid that.
thanx

You can update your drivers to the latest available version:
Drivers and software - ThinkPad X61, X61s.
Secondly configure your settings in Windows according to your network requirements. You might also consider running a registry cleaner.
Thirdly look for
Gomjabbar's instructions in
this thread.

Thanks! updating seems to have worked, though i haven't yet tested it out on the university network, which iis where the problems first manifested themselves. fingers x'd.
