Hia.

Anyone know if it is somehow possible to run direct3D applications (games) on X61s. As I understand the graphics card does not support Direct3D but maby someone has come to some sort of emulator etc. ?

Thank You ahead.

X61s supports direct 3D. It does not support some of the newest DX10 extensions (Shader model 4) - but 99% of the games out there will run on it at some frame rate. The performance might not be enough for satisfactory game play on some of the newer games - especially at higher resolutions.

Only 1 of the top 10 games as of earlier this year used DX10.

hmm, thank you for the answer. what the heck could be wrong if games like Call of Duty 2, Neverwinter Nights 2 (just two first ones I remember) tell me that cannot execute, Direct3D error.

post is getting bit away from "thinkpad" sry :)

You may need a newer version of directX. They can be downloaded free from Microsoft.

I've run Civilization IV and Railroads (which is too slow on an X61s) on my X61s. Both are DirectX games.

Go to the intel site and download the lastest driver from there. You will need to uninstall the Lenovo driver before you can install the intel one.
