Screen Flickering

#1 Post by spasell » Tue Oct 16, 2007 7:04 pm

I have downloaded an update to my system from the Lenovo Download center that supposedly fixes this issue. However, when I restart my computer as requested, I get a message that tells me that I need to restart my computer in it's last known working status, since it will not start back up properly. What in the heck could be happening?

When my system starts up, the screen flickers 2x's every single time before showing my desktop...it does the same when I unplug my computer as well.

Anyone have thoughts as to why this is happening?

I cannot even figure out how to activate the drivers for this because the instructions do not match up with what I am looking at.

Annoying isn't it... I had the same until I found the solution (from this forum or the notebookreview forums) last week! Rejoice and be merry!

Here goes:
Open start menu
Type "task" and open Task Scheduler
Open Tash Scheduler (Local) -> Task Scheduler Library -> Microsoft -> Windows -> MobilePC
Right click the TMM entry and choose disable
Quit out of Task Manager
Reboot

And the TMM entry would be... what?
Is it important?
Lenovo ThinkPad X220
i5-2410M | 8GB RAM | 240GB Crucial M500 | IPS 720P | BT 3.0 | Intel 1000 | Windows 8.1
yes, the 9mm SSD fits in the X220

I use Tablet XP not Vista...does this matter? I tried your instructions....when you say open starter menu, and then type task, type it where? Not sure I follow you here.

I just got an x61 12.1"
I've noticed that my screen will flicker in a different sense.

It's a faint flicker noticeable only when the screen is displaying something light colored.

I've called IBM and they're sending a box so I can send the unit in and get it repaired...

Has anyone else had a similar issue? Or even sent their machine in under warranty?
