Can the X61 use the "traditional" IBM 16v power su

#1 Post by SteveDC » Thu Oct 25, 2007 5:10 am

I ordered an X61 after having a T40 and many earlier Thinkpads, all using the old 16 v DC power supply with the coaxial connector in use for 10 years or so. I know the T60's use a newer 20 volt power supply. What about the X61? I searched here and looked on the Lenovo site. I apologize if I overlooked it. Thank you for your help.

The X6* models use the same 20 Volt power supplies as the T6* models.

Lenovo has recently changed to a larger connector for their 20V power supplies - so, for a T40 and an X6x, T6x Model, two different power supplies are required.

Does anyone know if the new connector for the x6x and T6x are compatible with the power adapters from Dell Inspiron's current line of notebooks?

I remember that a few years back, I saw someone using an R31 on a HP power brick...

X1 Carbon Gen 1, i5, 8gig, 256gig Sandisk

T43 SXGA+, 1.86Ghz, 2gig, 60gig Agility 2 + 160gig 5K80

Whoa - I wouldn't take that risk. You'd have to be sadistic to use an HP or Dell product with the Thinkpad.

As soon as I hear the words "HP" or "Dell" I run
Having owned both, I have good reason
Lenovo ThinkPad X220
i5-2410M | 8GB RAM | 240GB Crucial M500 | IPS 720P | BT 3.0 | Intel 1000 | Windows 8.1
yes, the 9mm SSD fits in the X220

Past ThinkPads: X300, T400, X61s, T41, X31, A21m, T23 (x2)
