Is Presentation Director needed?

The only functionality that I'm looking for is for the X61T to switch to the external monitor when I put it in the UltraBase Docker and then switch back to the LCD when I undock.

Will the machine do this natively w/out this application?

I may occasionally need to plug into a projector using the VGA port, but if I lose that ability I won't be too upset.

You can do any of these things using the display control panel. Presentation director just makes it a bit easier.

Why do you want to get rid of it - it uses essentially no resources.
