I have a quote set to expire next week with the following:

SYS.7668CT CONFIGURED SYSTEM $XXXX $XXXX
The above product code consists of the following component(s):
668CTO CTO THINKPAD X61S-1YD $963.88
42V8012 VBB MS WIN VISTA HOME BASIC $0.00
42X0367 SBB MSWINVISHOMB32 US ENGLISH $0.00
41W2060 VBB 1GB PC2-5300 667MHZ 1DIMM $0.00
42X0133 SBB KEYBOARD US ENGLISH $0.00
42X0753 SBB TRACKPOINT $0.00
42V9130 SBB 80GB HDD,5400RPM ATA 2.5" $0.00
42V8177 SBB INT.WIRE.WIFI/LINK4965AGN $0.00
41W1830 SBB 8CELL LI-ION BATTERY 2.6AH $0.00
41W1787 SBB CPK NORTH AMERICA $0.00
42X0202 SBB LANG.PACK_US ENGLISH $0.00

(I also have a quote for a x61 base config for XXXX after tax)

after tax it's 1048usd. it has ultralight, and I can add another 2 yrs of warranty for another 100. I know this is a relatively good deal, (and its an "OK" deal compared to some of the depot deals) but it kind of needs to be better than that since I already have a laptop : } What I really am wondering how often this type of deal comes around, and also if anyone has a remote idea of when the x62 will be released, i.e. winter or summer? Also is there any truth to there being a widescreen xseries in the next release?

If I buy this I am looking for a sleeve. I know folks on this forum like sfbags, but I am wondering if anyone has seen this used with an x61s + 8cell, considering it was made for a mac:

http://booqbags.com/s.nl/it.A/id.25/.f? ... egory=1090

I like the rugged exterior on it. for screen protect no doubt would go with shaggy mac. I get yelled at when I close my significant's T41 without placing it in there : }

Not to beat this topic into the ground, but I read that the x60 was much cooler than the x60s, even though both suffered from the hot right palmrest. Does it also follow for x61/x61s or not really? Anyone able to compare?

I have recently bought an aussiebag sleeve for my X61 and its great. Comes complete with a keyboard protector and accessory bag.

I have been using the Biolithic predecessor to the Aussiebag on my T43 for a couple of years and its lasted very well.

Cheers,

Bill B.

...pulled the trigger on this today. Total was XXXXX after I added 3-year warranty and tax. Anyone think this was a good deal??? I've gone back and forth on this for a long time, the build quality reports being part of the indecision. I will have 2gb mem after I pull a gig stick out of this acer.

Bill: thanks for the info, the aussiebag looks functional and snazzy. i like the packaging with the keyboard cloth. I am probably going to go with the zeroshock 3 though because of the shock protection.

I'd say that's quite a good deal. How'd you get it so cheap? I'm looking at similar systems with my educational discount and haven't come close to matching that price.

thanks for your reply.

it was off the site and using an anniversary code that was going around about a month ago. you can get similar pricing off the lenovo outlet (systems configured but then cancelled, so not used), but you have to have good timing as they refresh the list once in a while and its competitive ; }

MOD EDIT: Prices and source of website censored. Please check your pm explaining "why".
