Guys it has been around for a while now:

Irreparable Battery Damage Error (posted on July 11th, 2007 at lenovo blogs).

Irrepairable damage to the battery has been detected. (Posted on thinkpads.com on Jul 09, 2007 by a fellow moderator).

It was called March 2007 recall if I'm not wrong.
