X61 docked, screen quality

#1 Post by DJHingapus » Fri Nov 09, 2007 9:48 am

Hey guys and girls..

I am considering buying a x61 and docking it with my IBM L201 20" screen with res 1600*1200. Today i have a T42 connected through the dock with DVI to the screen. The image looks perfect! I hear that the ultrabase dock only have VGA output, so my question is, will the image be blurry? I can see a huge difference when i connect my T42 with VGA..

Any experience?

Best Regards Rasmus

Well - I just tried it. I can tell the difference between DVI and VGA - but with a really good VGA cable, my X61s is quite acceptable. 95% as sharp as DVI. (On A Dell 2007FP at 1600x1200)

(Caviat - this was not docked - it was plugged into the VGA on the side)

I have an X60/Ultrabase running Vista. I use this with an external monitor but if I try to use both the external monitor and the laptop monitor Visa drops down to the non-Aero graphics.

Not sure if this is a limitation of the X60 graphics card -- and if so, if this is improved in the X61 -- or if this is a simple driver problem?

Thanks
