Hard Drive

#1 Post by SimoneDice » Thu Nov 22, 2007 1:19 pm

I'm thinking about upgrading to a 7200 RPM hard drive for my x60. Has anyone done ths and or have any suggestions?

I'm specifically wondering if it will be too hot and any other complications that might result.

Also, the hard drive I'm considering is a HITACHI Travelstar 7K200 HTS722020K9SA00 (0A50940) 200GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache Serial ATA150 Notebook Hard Drive - OEM.

This should work find, right? Thanks.

I went with the Seagate cause at the time I bought it was much cheaper though the Hitachi is supposedly a bit faster. If you buy a Seagte you can get a free download of DiscWizard which is essentially Acronis True Image, a nice backup utility.

Simonedice, I installed the exact same harddrive in my X60s last week (and went from 1,5 to 3GB ram at the same time - ram is ridiculously cheap now!). I had no problems at all - the computer is a little bit faster (I'm using Vista) and a lot quieter. And, of course, I have a lot more space on my harddrive than before (I had the 60GB).

Good luck!

Dell Latitude X200 (933Mhz, 640MB) - Once wonderful, now doing kitchen service :-)
Dell Ultrasharp 2405FPW - gotta love it!
