Storing/Moving the X6 Ultrabase

#1 Post by Trekk69 » Sun Nov 25, 2007 10:48 am

Hey all,
I just got a new X61T with the ultrabase (yet to update the sig, I know, waiting to get my ram in place, and custom install).

Anyway, when I'm not using the ultrabase, is it fine to just leave it sitting on my desk, with the electric connection port just exposed?

And second thing, if I'm moving my laptop and my ultrabase not together (ultrabase in suitcase, laptop in the plane), is there any particular way to store/move the ultrabase in the suitcase?

Thanks, a lot

Cover it up in a plastic sheet and put it in a box, one of the major cause of machine failure is dust.

You can go to any UPS store and request them to safe pack it in a box equivalent to your requirement that would fit in your suitcase.
"I've come a long, long way," she said, "and I will go as far,
With the man who takes me from my horse, and leads me to a bar."
The man who took her off her steed, and stood her to a beer,
Were a bleary-eyed Surveyor and a DRUNKEN ENGINEER.

Lenovo sells the IBM Travel Keyboard with UltraNav. The Travel Keyboard comes with a carrying case. In addition to the keyboard, this carrying case is great for storing and moving the X6 Ultrabase when not connected to the laptop. The case fits so well they should sell just the case for the purpose of your question. The downside is that the case is somewhat soft sided, so it will not protect against someone stepping on it.
