I understand that there is a warm palmrest problem with the X61 due the the wireless card. So my question is, among the 3 wireless cards that can be chosen from,
ThinkPad 11a/b/g Wi-Fi wireless LAN Mini-PCIe US/EMEA/LA/ANZ
Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG
Intel Wireless Wi-Fi Link 4965AGN
which one generates the least heat?
THANKS!

The 3945ABG in my X61 has been working flawlessly, but the palmrest does heat up when I set the wireless adaptor to work at "maximum performance" under power options. But I have heard heat complains about all three cards, so it's up to you. Price and driver support wise, 3945ABG might be the best choice.

Get the 4965AGN because it offers 'n' type wifi as well (even tho it is still draft standard).

I wouldn't spend the extra $30 on it because most of the time, the access point or router that I am connecting to supports only B or G. N is still relatively rare. Unless you already have a N router / access point, or have the plan to purchase one in the very near future, I say save the money and get the ABG ones.

I don't care about whether it supports N or not. What I care about it the heat the card generates.
http://www.tpuser.idv.tw/articles/santarosa-test-4.html
4965AGN:--------------53度(Max)
Atheros abg:------------58.5度(Max)
3945ABG:--------------60度(Max)
Atheros 11n:-----------63.4度(Max)
This site (in Chinese) tested them and it seems that afterall 4965AGN generates the least heat.

^ Good find.
I've been generally satisfied with my 4965AGN card.
