Is there a way to CONFIRM the equipment in my new X61t?

So, got the new X61t, more on that later. I got the Superview WVA SXGA+ screen with the 1400x resolution.
First, I HAD to move the dpi up to 120 dpi, it just wasn't workable for me at 1400 and 96 dpi. Text was too small, not BAD, just not confortable. At 120 it is pretty nice though.
What I am having a problem with is the screen brightness. I THOUGHT that the Superview was suppossed to be very bright, brighter than the MT/MV screen. Compared to an X41 I have, that seems to be a bit brighter, and the X61t seems a bit hazy, not completly uniform across all the screen. It depends on the angle one looks at it. But, if I am looking at it straight on, then the top area appears just a tad less bright than the center.
Also, when on Battery, I cannot find the setting which allows the machine to get AS BRIGHT as on AC. This setting used to be in the
Thinkpad Configuration console, but I cannot find it in the new software and VISTA.
So, the question. Is all this normal, and is there way to find the PART number of the screen to see exactly WHAT it is?
