wifi trouble

howdy all

I purchased an X61 with Vista Business in July 07. I thus far really don't like Vista and want to downgrade to XP, but that's a different story...

I have constant trouble with my WIFI - when I try to view networks, I consistently get "no networks found" even though I'm in places where I am POSITIVE there is wifi. Usually I can find networks after powering off the wireless radio and turning it back on (both manually with the front switch and from within the wireless program window). Sometime I have to go through 4 or 5 on/off cycles before any networks are found.

Connecting to networks and staying online is no problem - its just the initial finding networks I have issues with.

Does anyone else have this problem? Is there any way to reset my wireless card or is it possibly defective?

Thanks

You are going to hate the answer: However, I have an x60s and an x61s and this what I have found works best for both: The 60 is slower than the 61 but both machines need a pause after boot-up to finding the available wifi hotspots. I find that if I just leave the machines alone for 60 – 90 seconds after boot up they behave much better in connecting to a hot-spot. So, I boot – up the machines, then go get a cup of coffee and then do the wifi search.
