Crash When Clicking on Manage NEtwork Connections

#1 Post by ALENOVOTECH » Sun Dec 09, 2007 2:25 pm

I have 3 problems with my X60 with vista and my Intel 3945abg.

1st and 2nd Problem:
My unit will no longer get IP's Both Wireless and Wired.

It was working fine. Playing World of warcraft. Surfing the net. Then I went away. Come back and now it shows the wireless connected to AP but Limited Connectivity.

I have another unit running Windows XP and it is connected to wireless with no problems. I am using it now to type this post.

Searched the forums tried some stuff still not working. Then the 3rd problem started happing.

3rd Promblem
Now when I click on Manage Network Connections a window comes up says Explorer has stop responding it then restart starts the explorer. I can never get to Mange Network Connections.

For 1st and second problem, try the following utilities posted by GomJabbar:

Wireless issue I've about had it. Can't connect to any wi.

Also if you've Access Connections installed then uninstall it to see if that makes any difference.

For the third problem, I suggest try using some good registry cleaner to cleanup your Windows registry.

ok i gave up on trying to fix and did a restore from the hidden part. every thing seems ok for a few days. Then blam!

It stopped getting an IP again.

Every thing in that link pointed to XP and I have vista ultimate.

I think it has somthing to do with the firewall and norton.

I used to defend Vista but after this. I going to have to change my vote.

When I run ipconfig I see five adapters.

wireless
wire
Tunnle adapter 6
Tunnle adapter 9
Tunnle adapter 11

I finally got a window to pop up that gave me and option to repair
one of the options was to restart the adapter.

I did this fixed the wire connection. but I am still have problems with the wireless.

I emailed them also and got one very criptic reply
Based on the description in the email, it seems, you are facing problem with DGL-4300. Please visit

DHCP server automatically assigns IP addresses to computers on a network. Step 1 Open a web browser and type the IP address of the gaming router in the address bar (default is 192.168.0.1). Press Enter. Step 2 The default password is blank (nothing). Click Log In. Step 3 Click DHCP on the left side. Step 4 By default DHCP server is enabled. To disable the built-in DHCP server, uncheck DHCP Server Enabled. To change the DHCP server range, enter new values next to DHCP IP Address Range. If you enter 100 and 150, and your IP address starts with 192.168.0.x then the DHCP scope (range) will be 192.168.0.100-192.168.0.150. To change the lease time, enter a new value (in seconds) next to DHCP Lease Time. The lease time is the amount of time before the DHCP server renews the IP address of clients. Step 5 Click Save Settings at the top to save the new settings. Note: Associated DHCP clients will be listed in the Number of Dynamic DHCP Clients section.
