DVD Image Missing - WinDVD & Media Player & InterAct

I have an X61 Tablet running XP SP2. All factory software is installed plus a few work related applications like VPN, Altiris, and a proxy host service.

When I try to run WinDVD or Windows Media Player or InterVideo to watch purchased DVDs, they all fail to run the movie. Here are the symptoms.

WinDVD - doesn't even run the movie. The application starts up, but clicking the play button has no affect. I saw a message a few times about changing the graphics setting or something about the Overlay.

Windows Media Player - the sound plays for the movie, but no image and no error messages.

InterVideo - it says "The DVD navigator was not detected. If you don't have one installed, you will need to upgrade your system"

I have installed the latest Intel 965 drivers 6.14.10.4864. The DVD driver is Window XP 5.1.2535.0. The WinDVD latest software was loaded: 5.0.11.1189.

I also tried playing with some of the Window Media Player tools, properties, advanced options - like changing the video acceleration selections and the DVD Video selections. Nothing worked.

However when I loaded VLC Media Player. This application runs fine. DVD movies play normal.

Does anyone have any Ideas here?
