New X61t and unusually bad luck with Lenovo Canada?

Can anyone tell me the approved procedure for getting a refund on a lemon from Lenovo Canada?
New X61t ordered 8 Nov, received 27 Nov, backlight started failing 27 Nov, returned to Lenovo 3 Dec, (Visa billed 19 Nov). For the last couple weeks I've been calling every few days and am getting the same story every time: a part is on back-order and should arrive in a few days.
This is my 4th Thinkpad (but my first from Lenovo) - As many of us do, I pay the premium on the assumption I'll get something more reliable, but it didn't work this time. I'm getting fed up and am close to the point of wanting to return the thing (except they already have it!) and getting my money back.
What's the procedure? Credit card company first or Lenovo first?
