can i add 'integrated' bluetooth after-market?

#1 Post by goodmami » Fri Dec 14, 2007 7:06 pm

I got an x61t back in september, and I didn't add the integrated bluetooth option. Is it possible to purchase this now (ie. is it a pluggable module)? Or do I have to get a USB bluetooth adapter?

thanks

thanks for the quick response. After googling that part number, I actually found another post on forum.thinkpads.com about this (funny I couldn't find it through the site's built-in search).

So this is installed behind the lcd? While I'm not afraid to open it up, i'd rather not. I wonder if it's possible to have an authorized service provider do the installation (if so how much?). And if it's too expensive, would it void the warranty if I try to do it myself?

On the X61T, the Bluetooth adapter (FRU #39T0497) is located under the keyboard, connected to the motherboard via a short zig-zag flat cable -- nothing to do with the LCD panel.

It is in the X60/s and X61/s units that the Bluetooth adapter is located in the bottom of the LCD panel enclosure, and where one must make certain that the LCD cable is the kind that has a connector for it.

oh sweet, thanks EOMtp. That sounds a lot easier than removing the LCD. (hopefully it IS easier, too...)

My old R40 had it under the keyboard as well, hope your is the same. I guess the hardware manual should give some idea.
