I have a new X61s and just read that it is only possible to flash the bios from the X6Ultrabase CD-Rom but not with a USB-CD-Rom.

I do not really wish to buy this CD-Rom but have an additional Harddisk and the X6Ultrabase.
Does anybody know if I could create a virtual CD for the ISO on my second Xbase-Harddisk and flash the bios from there?

Or do I really need to buy the Xbase CD-Rom?

Any other possible solutions?

PS I am running Vista ultimate 64-bit

AFAIK no, it can only be done via X6 Ultrabase.

If you're planning on using 64-bit version of Windows Vista for a long term usage then I suggest you buy the X6 Ultrabase.

A temporary solution at this time would be reverting back to 32-bit version of Windows and installing the firmware and then going back to 64-bit after that once again.

Sounds a bit complicated and I did not yet have time to try it, but maybe there is after all a way around without the x6 ultrabase cd-rom.

If anybody tried one of the solutions mentioned with success, any feedback welcome.
