Problem: Vista install from ext. drive / flash drive

I finally purchased czech student version of Vista Ultimate for my X60tablet. I tried to install it yeasterday, first from my 4GB Corsair Voyger Flash Disk using this tutorial: http://kurtsh.spaces.live.com/blog/cns! ... 1665.entry I had previous experience with my current version of Vista being installed this way without any problems.

When I booted from the flash drive and proceeded to this screen http://www.zolved.com/UserFiles/Image/W ... ll-now.jpg after I pressed the "Install Now" button screen asking me for Loading Driver appeared telling me the requested drivers could not be found. It gives me the option to go through my drives to search for the drivers but the only drive letter visible is X: which is the created bootable drive. And there I are no drivers at all in this 30MB partition.

The exactly same happenes when I try to install from the USB external DVD drive.

I guess these drivers are neccessary for Vista Installation so it could access the USB flash / USB external DVD drive.

I have no idea how to deal with it as it would see another USB flash with drivers anyway if I plugged it in while it asks me for drivers. Maybe vLite the drivers somehow into the installation - but the question would be what drivers do I need then??

Thanks a lot for your help, I am kinda stuck here and can't complete my switch to a new 7K200 hard drive because of this :(

In your machines BIOS under hard drive options, change AHCI to compatible mode.

Harryc thanks for the reply!

I tried to set the mode to compatibility in BIOS, but unfortunately it didn't change anything (tried to install again with both - flash disk and ext. DVD)

This is what the window says (it's hard for me to translate it the way it would appear on ENG version of installation as I have czech one :( )

The main window name is "Choose a driver you want to install"

and the pop-up window's name is "Load driver" and the text is:
"Requested driver of device CD/DVD drive is missing. If you are using floppy drive, CD drive, DVD, or USB Flash drivers, insert them now.

Note: If the installation media of Windows system is in the CD/DVD drive, you can eject it safely at this point"

And the options are: "Browse", "OK" and "Cancel"

Browse will show me the drive X:, OK will tell me I still don't have the driver and cancel... :(

Any other suggestions?

Snowii:

I was going to suggest asking over here but I see that you have beat me to it! This is the right place for ThinkPad advice.
