Is there a way locking ThinkVantage when boot up?

Is there a way locking ThinkVantage when boot up?

#1 Post by bin.dong » Sun Dec 30, 2007 4:29 pm

whenever I boot up my X61T and press ThinkVantage button, I can do whatever I want, ie: reformat HD. Is there a way locking it?

Locking to prevent 'other' users to tamper with the computer...I don't know, but interesting point.

There is an option in the BIOS, upon setting it, a user requires Fingerprint authentication in order to enter the Predesktop area.
"I've come a long, long way," she said, "and I will go as far,
With the man who takes me from my horse, and leads me to a bar."
The man who took her off her steed, and stood her to a beer,
Were a bleary-eyed Surveyor and a DRUNKEN ENGINEER.

Thanks, good to know!

Sort of a side question....is there anyway to require a fingerprint/password, right on start up?...like before the thinkvantage option comes up?

I know on my old dell, it came already installed, I turned it on, and first thing I had to do was enter my password like 3 secs after pressing on, to continue even loading up .

Thanks

Supervisor, Power-on and HDD passwords are already available to you in the BIOS for that purpose:

Function and symbol's for password protection???. (a thread from forum FAQs)
