Lenovo X61 Freezing Up

#1 Post by HBrill » Wed Jan 02, 2008 4:10 pm

I have a X61 Tablet with MS Office 2007. When I am in the office, i do not appear to have any problems. When I take it out of the office, I constantly have the Office applications freeze up after 10 minutes of work or so. It will say the application is not responding and I will get a white glaze over the screen. If there a setting or fix that anyone can recommend. Thanks.

Do you have Turbo Memory installed?

Although your problem sounds like Windows Vista crashing for some reason to me...

Make sure your drivers are up-to-date:

Intel Turbo Memory Driver for Windows Vista - ThinkPad Reserve Edition, R61, T61, X61, X61s, X61 Tablet.

You would need to run two setups, one initial which will unpack the package to the following folder from where you would need to run the second setup manually:

C:\DRIVERS\VISTA\Turbomem\SETUP.EXE.

This would or wouldn't troubleshoot your freezes since I suspect the problem lies somewhere else within Windows Vista.

I installed the driver and experienced the same problem this morning on the train.

If it happens during transporting only then it can be due to Active Protection System suspending your HDD temporarily. You can turn it off to see if that makes any difference.

Looks like that was the problem. Thank you.
