x60 Sound - Frequent 'Clicking/Static'

#1 Post by SimoneDice » Thu Jan 03, 2008 10:35 pm

Hello - I have an x60 that is just over 1 year old. For awhile, there has been this frequent clicking/static noise that happens on a frequent basis. Maybe every 30 seconds or minute. It comes through the speakers, but I also hear it if I have headphones on.

Anyone know what this might be?

Are you sure it's not just the Hard Drive? Hitachi HDDs have a major problem with the clicking (at least, I see it as a problem)

yes, the 9mm SSD fits in the X220

Yeah. Cause it's the speakers that make the noise. I just replaced the hard drive too and it's the same problems. The noise is definetly coming from external speakers (i.e., external speakers and headphones).
