X61 3945ABG crashes regularly with Netgear WGR614 router

#1 Post by rhema83 » Tue Jan 08, 2008 8:22 am

I have been experiencing this weird problem lately. The 3945ABG card in my X61 crashes when connected to my Netgear WGR614 54Mbps wireless router. It happens whenever the router stops responding for a few seconds. My XP Pro equipped T42 and Sony VAIO simply reconnect to the wireless network and resume working. But my Vista equipped X61 cannot deal with it. The wireless adaptor crashes and doesn't respond to FN+F5 ON/OFF, the hardware switch, or Device Manager Enable/Disable. The wireless LED below the screen also switches off. Anything related to wireless networking slows to a crawl. Shut down becomes very slow because Windows tries to close this crashed network connection when shutting down.

I have tried both the Lenovo and Intel drivers for the 3945ABG card, but the crash happens either way.

Anyone else experiencing this problem?

Whatever the overall problem is, your router should not be doing this!
