Got my new X61T; some questions
I just got my X61T with 1400x1050 display. It is more awesome than I thought it would be. Some questions:
1. I have a stuck pixel, and it's fairly obvious. I want it fixed, but from previous experience I think Lenovo won't fix the screen unless I have 6 or something stuck pixels. I bought a 2-year extended warranty, though. What are my options? Should I just return it for a new one?
2. My screen initially auto-rotated when in tablet mode, but recently it has not. Any help?
3. When I use Microsoft OneNote, the erase end of my Wacom pen will not work. On the screen, the cursor changes to an eraser, but it won't erase. When I manually change the cursor to an erase via the menu and use the "pen" end of the pen, the erasing works. Any ideas?
4. I am getting surprisingly short battery life with the 4-cell, like 1:30 hours.
5. The notebook is emitting a hum that is obvious in extremely quiet conditions (like when I'm reading in bed). The hum is not from the fan or the hard drive. Any ideas what this is?

Re: Got my new X61T; some questions
Do you run Vista? This is normal runtime due to the "Battery Drain Bug", see http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?t=53757 . Probably you also get this with XP. I have no explanation for it. My workaround is to install Xubuntu. This gets 30% longer battery runtime.zephyr wrote: 4. I am getting surprisingly short battery life with the 4-cell, like 1:30 hours.
battery
I am getting about four hours 4 hours using screen on about full, maybe 14/15s, wifi, no bt, adaptive processor control. I certainly think I could get more than 4 hours, with wifi off, and screen brightness down lower, but A) I wouldn't be able to see anything and B) I couldn't connect to anything.

Is that with the 4-cell battery?nikemen wrote:I am getting about four hours 4 hours using screen on about full, maybe 14/15s, wifi, no bt, adaptive processor control. Re: Got my new X61T; some questions
I get about 1:30-2:00 on a 4 cell battery depending on how much my disk is thrashing, how high I turn the screen brightness, and whether or not I'm using wireless.zephyr wrote:4. I am getting surprisingly short battery life with the 4-cell, like 1:30 hours.
Re: Got my new X61T; some questions
Click the toolbox button on the screen (next to the screen rotate button). Click on Settings. Look for the "Enable ActiveRotate" check box.zephyr wrote:2. My screen initially auto-rotated when in tablet mode, but recently it has not. Any help?

1. You would need to pay 15% restocking fee to lenovo, remember CTO model can't be put back to shelf for others to re-buy.
4. I'm getting 4:30-5 hrs. with eight cell battery, 1:30-2 hrs. would seem normal for 4 cell.
5. Make sure that's not your AC adapter, Intel's chipset also makes some noise at times.
