Creaking Corner on X61s

I've been having a creaking problem with the bottom left corner of my X61s palmrest. It is a new problem, and was not there (or perhaps noticeable) when I took it out of the package.

Whenever I pick up the X61s by the bottom left corner, even if I'm supporting it on another side with the other hand, it makes a creaking noise. I can only compare it to a creaky hinge on a door, with a metalic click. I tried tightening the screws (which were quite loose), but this didn't seem to solve the problem.

Any ideas?
