extraneous fn-key decals on x61t

#1 Post by tarvoke » Wed Jan 16, 2008 1:17 am

so I'd noticed long ago that pgup has the thinklight decal (wtf?!), but only today I realized that f8 has the trackpoint/trackpad decal... double wtf??!? I know pennies in volume add up but this just seems silly. no wonder some of us prefer pre-lenovo.

on older machines, these sort of icons (not just the fn keys, I mean all they keys...) look much better applied and durable; on newer/lenovo type machines they look like somewhat poorly applied decals.

anyone tried removing them? what's a good solvent? I'll probably start with iso alcohol and consider harder stuff if that doesn't work.

...someday I'd like to stuff x6x guts into an x3x chassis...
go away.

you're right about the F8 key. I have no clue why I need a short cut to my mouse properties but the PgUp key with the think light is correct. I have a thinklight that comes with my x61s, shouldnt you have one on a x61 tablet?

The Tablet does not have a Thinklight. The silk screening is there, and the graphic comes up on the screen, but it always shows as OFF so apparently it knows it's not physically there.

yep, the tablet lid is packed too full of digitizer junk to allow the thinklight (I imagine)

it is quite amusing that they spent the effort to have a driver flash the thinklight-disabled osd, instead of just not putting the icon on pgup and not bothering with the driver. can that really be saving lenovo pennies in volume? guess so.
go away.
