Hey Thinkpad forum

I have just recently bought a x61, and i have a question concerning power management options. I have the posibility to choose between "Balance all parameters" and "Maximum performance" i the option - Optimize fan control to. My question is know what is the difference? I can't seem to hear or feel any difference and i can't see any difference in fan speed (tpfancontrol)

Hope you can answer my question..

yes. All these power settings have only little impact if any. Set it to dynamic (speedstep) and you are fine. Neither can you save battery by reducing it nor can you improve performance by setting it to maximum as this is done automatically by speedstepping. I think Microsoft has integrated this because of marketing. It is not really useful. IMHO.

i think that Power Manager serve as some purpose out there.

Balanced all parameters mean that the FAN will not spinning in high rpm, whereas Max performance will heat up your pc fast and reduce battery life during usage too !!!
