Hi,
using Vista Ultimate on a X61s: System Update 3 proposes to update the system with 3 Microsoft Knowledge Base Updates: KB929637 32 bit; KB937500 32 bit; KB941137 32 bit.
The systems installs but then reports "installation failed"; I rebooted and tried again to no success. Any idea how to overcome this issue?
tx,
Gerd

From my experience with Windows Vista I've learnt that it doesn not install downlaods that are not meant for your system. Make sure that's not the case.
The first KB you mentioned will be required when you've Nero installed, second when you've PCI-E graphics device, third is pretty much obvious.
You can try to install them manually, I believe they'll maybe get installed this way as lately I had an update for Microsoft Office (Outlook Junk Email) which got installed even when I had no Outlook installed from Office suite:
1.
Error message during Windows Vista startup if the Nero InCD program is installed and if the "Special pool" feature is enabled in the Driver Verifier utility: "Stop 00000050".
2.
A Windows Vista-based computer that uses a PCI-E graphics device may stop responding when you wake the computer from sleep.
3.
The EQUAL SIGN key does not work on a USB PC98 keyboard that is connected to a Windows Vista-based computer.
