BAD Ultralight LCD (+pics) on X61s Again GGrrr.

2 months ago, which was about only 1 month after I purchased my X61s, I gave it for repair due to an ugly vertical line appearing at the left side of the screen. I was told screen was replaced.

Now, 2 months after the repair, the problem came back again! A vertical line on left side of the screen (can't know for sure if it's absolutely at the same location on the left but seems like it).

When I moving the lid at different angles it may disappear and come back later. Also when pressing on the back of the lid at some points it may make the vertical line disappear, looks like a bad connection, but last time they said screen needs to be replaced.

Now again, what a [censored]. A new computer, only 4 months in use and already going to be second repair. Also note that I am a pedant person, and a freak when it comes to taking care of my X61s, so it never had any shock or even a scratch. Looks brand new like it came out of the box, so beats me why the lousy screen.

Anyway heard about that thing before?

From your description is sounds like the ribbon/signal cable from the system board to the LCD is defective.

Ugh, no its not. Things have been substantially improving since Lenovo took over. A defective ribbon cable can happen to almost any notebook. Try saying the same about cracked motherboards that you find in many pre T6x notebooks from flexing chassis. My boss's t42 had a HD fail not form the drive going bad, but from the solder joints all breaking off from the motherboard from stress.

Not knowing much about notebooks my frist guess would have been a bad cable as well. I have a similar problem with my LCD at work and wigeling the cable gets rid of the line. However it could have been the plug at the screen end as well, so it's not like they were far off replacing the screen, however, you would think they would have replaced the cable first...
